As an elementary educator of over 25 years I understand the complexity of student success. Everyone needs their basic needs met to be successful academically, so I want to make sure students at Lane Community College have the services and supports they need to be successful and the highly engaging programs to help them achieve their dreams. LCC also needs to be a welcoming & inclusive place for everyone. Throughout my many years of teaching I made equity, diversity, and inclusion an important component of my work. I will prioritize these issues with all stakeholders at the college.
Recently, I moved from K-12 education to working in higher education and have the exciting opportunity to work on teacher workforce development. This experience has reinforced my understanding of how critical it is for LCC to be a workforce hub in Lane County. As a board member I want to ensure we have excellent programs to train the nurses, welders, mechanics, dentists, and computer programmers our communities need, and more! It is a priority that the college listen to and collaborate with local industry, business and community needs.
I am passionate about education at all levels, from Kindergarten to higher education and know it is important all members of our community have access to a highly effective education system. That’s why it has been an honor to serve as a member of the LCC board for the last 5 years. I am excited to continue working hard to ensure that Lane Community College is a vibrant and accessible place of learning for Lane County.
